Most companies of any size have at least one person that understands every aspect of the technology that keeps the company running. That person thinks about your business and how technology can help you do what you do. They are not your run of the mill geek, but a business person that knows the technology and how to use it in business. They study the systems they manage and find ways to improve them and make them more reliable. When something breaks, they have an idea where to find the problem and what to do to fix it. They keep the systems up and running and choose the right technology for the job, not what is popular this week or next. This person is called the Chief Technology Officer or CTO..
